Terms of service
Plain-language terms for using The Board. Effective October 22, 2026. By using the site you agree to them.
1. What The Board is
The Board (theboardcfb.com) is a data aggregator. It collects information that is already public and presents it in one place. Specifically, it records which public X (formerly Twitter) accounts belonging to college football coaches and staff members follow which other public X accounts, and when a follow was first observed.
Public data only. Everything on the site comes from sources anyone can see: public X profiles and their public follow lists, the public commitment lists at CollegeFootballData.com, the publicly posted transfer portal list, and schools' own public staff directories. The Board does not access private accounts, direct messages, or any non-public information, and does not ask anyone for information about themselves.
The Board is operated by The Board (a Maryland business). It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to X Corp., the NCAA, any conference, any school, any coach, or any player.
2. What a follow means, and what it does not
A “follow” on this site means exactly one thing: one social media account started following another social media account. The Board reports that fact and the time it was first observed.
A follow does not mean, and the site does not claim, any of the following:
- that a scholarship offer, commitment, visit, contact, conversation, or agreement exists or will exist;
- that a coach, staff member, player, or school has done anything other than use a social media feature;
- that anyone has broken any rule of the NCAA, a conference, a school, or any law;
- that a player is in, or will enter, the transfer portal, or is considering changing schools;
- that a player is being recruited, or is any good at football.
Counts, rankings, stars, “staff-wide targets,” “Flip Watch,” “Visit Watch,” and similar labels are arithmetic on follow counts, nothing more. They are not evaluations of any person and not predictions. Labels such as class year, position, and hometown are read automatically from players' own public profiles and can be wrong. Any conclusion you draw from the site is yours.
3. Accuracy
The site is updated by automated checks, usually twice a day. A follow can appear up to 12 hours after it happened, and an account that was unfollowed can show for a while afterward. Accounts can be matched to the wrong person, and public profiles change. The Board is provided as is, without any warranty that it is complete, current, or correct. If you spot an error, tell us at the contact address on the How it works page and we will look at it.
4. Using the site
You may use the site to read, share links to pages, and post the share cards it makes. You may not:
- copy the site's data in bulk, scrape it, or resell it;
- use the site to harass, threaten, or contact any player, coach, or family, or to pressure anyone about recruiting;
- present anything on the site as proof of an offer, a commitment, or a rules violation;
- try to break into accounts, the database, or other people's sessions, or load the site in a way that disrupts it;
- share your account with others.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
5. Accounts and memberships
A free account needs only an email address; we send a sign-in link and never store a password. Paid memberships, when offered, are billed by Stripe in advance for the period you choose. You can cancel at any time from your account page; access continues to the end of the period you paid for. Fees already paid are not refunded, except where the law requires it or we have stated otherwise. Prices and what each plan includes are shown on the Join page before you pay, and we will tell you by email before any price change takes effect.
6. If you appear on the site
The site shows public X profile details (handle, display name, bio, profile picture, and the hometown or school listed in a bio) for accounts that tracked coaches follow. Many of those accounts belong to high-school players who are minors. If an account is yours, or your child's, and you want it off the site, email the contact address on the How it works page with the handle. We will remove it and stop recording it. You do not have to give a reason.
7. Ownership
The site's design, text, code, rankings, and the way its data is compiled belong to The Board (a Maryland business). The underlying facts (who follows whom) are public and belong to no one. Names, handles, and profile pictures belong to their owners, and school and team names belong to the schools; they appear here only to identify public accounts.
8. Limits on our responsibility
The Board is an information service. To the fullest extent the law allows, The Board (a Maryland business) is not liable for any loss, decision, or dispute that comes from using the site or relying on anything in it, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
9. Changes, law, contact
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will post a notice on the site or email account holders before it takes effect; continuing to use the site afterward means you accept the change. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland and of the United States, and any dispute will be heard in the courts of Maryland. Questions: the contact address on the How it works page.
